Junior Preschool Program
Our preschoolers are taught in a fun and welcoming environment at a ratio of one teacher for every eight children, with a maximum of 24 children.
The Preschool Program gives your child an opportunity to interact with other children through cooperative learning activities. Our goal is to enhance your child’s social skills such as taking turns, good manners, cooperation and respectful behaviour. A variety of play and art materials are used to promote curiosity, creativity and self-expression.
The preschool teachers use indoor and outdoor, hands-on experiences and activities to give your child an opportunity to explore and discover new things. We also help your preschooler to develop ideas and language skills (to aid future learning) with the following activities:
- retelling events
- drama
- music and movement
- story time

Food
Children in the Junior Preschool Program are offered a morning snack, lunch (with milk) and afternoon snack that are prepared at the centre by our certified cook. Water is also provided throughout the day.
SMCC is able to accommodate all sorts of food allergies and restrictions.

Daily Updates
We use the Lillio (previously HiMama) app to provide parents with photos and updates to show the fun that their child is having during the day. We are also able to provide you with information about meals, toileting and nap length.
We care about your child’s progress – at least once a year or when requested, your child’s teacher(s) will provide you with an individualized report card. The teacher will offer insight on your child’s development and progress in the Junior Preschool Program.
