Spring Meadows Childcare Centre (SMCC) is a not-for-profit childcare centre in Kanata that is licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Education to provide high quality childcare services to Ottawa’s west end community since 2004 (previously operated as Stittsville Childcare Centre), for children ages 12 months to 6 years.

We are part of the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Childcare (CWELCC) program to provide affordable high-quality childcare services. A not-for-profit since 2017, SMCC’s mission is:

To promote and enrich a child’s early childhood learning and social experiences in a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment.

As a not-for-profit, SMCC is managed by our experienced General Manager and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, which consists of current parents, past parents and community members.

Our programs are designed to enrich early development, and our educators and supervisors take all areas of development into consideration. It is just as important for children to develop their social abilities as it is for them to learn their letters, numbers and shapes. Our goal is to provide a caring and supportive environment so children can feel safe to practice social interactions, make mistakes, problem solve, and gain confidence so they can be successful in all areas of learning.

Our community partners and volunteers support SMCC and are an important piece of our operations and success. As a not-for-profit childcare centre, we do host some fundraising activities and welcome ongoing community support of these activities to help us to continue to achieve our mission and goals.

Our Goals

Children, their families and the SMCC staff each play an equally vital role in the success of the SMCC community.

Together, we share a dedication to quality childcare and education.
Together, we create a dynamic community for children.
Together, we build a bright future for our children
